Lecture and Guided Tour of the Alfonso Reyes Exhibit by Héctor Perea

This event is part of our Fall 2008 series centering on Mexican culture Organized by the Instituto Cervantes in collaboration with the Consulate General of México and the UNAM Storyteller and writer, Héctor Perea graduated with a degree in journalism from the Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México (UNAM) and he received a doctorate in journalism from the Universidad Complutense de Madrid. He is part of the Sistema Nacional de Creadores de Arte and has received fellowships from the Centro Mexicano de Escritores, the Instituto Nacional de Bellas Artes, the Consejo Nacional para la Cultura y las Artes de México, and the Instituto de Cooperación Iberoamericana de Madrid. He has published 20 books, including the anthology España en la obra de Alfonso Reyes. Perea has received national awards such as the "Rosario Castellanos de Periodismo Cultural" (1989) and the "José Revueltas de Ensayo Literario" (1994). He has collaborated with several Mexican magazines and supplements dedicated to art and literature. In Spain, he has worked for the newspaper Diario 16 and its supplements Culturas, Insula, and the Revista de libros. He has also published short fictional essays in magazines in the United States, Finland, and Italy. Today, he is a researcher at UNAM’s Centro de Estudios Literarios del Instituto de Investigaciones Filológicas and a professor with UNAM’s Sistema de Universidad Abierta.
