Film Series Opening Lecture by José Manuel García Ortega

Jose Manuel García Ortega is a biologist with a degree from the School of Sciences at the Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México (UNAM), where he also earned a certificate in the Advancement of Science. Presently, he is chief of programming and material access for UNAM’s Heritage Film Library, responsible for distribution, stock shot management, library supervision, and management and programming for national and international film festivals. He has also translated and subtitled several films and designed and programmed various film series. For the last five years, García Ortega has edited the film review section of UNAM’s science magazine, in which he has written over 60 film reviews and other articles. During the same period, he has given several lectures, workshops, and seminars on documentaries about the advancement of science.
