The Official Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Madrid has been offering certificates that grant proficiency in the linguistic knowledge of the Spanish language in the specialized field of business and trade since 1978.   Following a Memorandum of Understanding with the University of Alcalá in 1995, the above mentioned certificates have now worldwide recognition.

 

The Spanish Business certificates are administered in the US by the Instituto Cervantes of Chicago on behalf of the Chamber of Commerce and the University of Alcalá. These certificates are offered at different levels:

 

·          Basic certificate of Business Spanish,.

·          Advanced Certificate of Business Spanish.

·          Diploma on Business Spanish.

 

Basic Certificate of Spanish Business

Students are required to be able to communicate in everyday situations and those involving the most essential in the administrative and commercial activity of a company.

 

Advanced Certificate of Spanish Business

Students are tested in their command of Spanish and their technical knowledge of the business world.   It also evaluates both the written and oral competence of the student.

 

Spanish Business Diploma

This diploma evaluates the students’ linguistic competence at a high level of specialized business language.   It stresses the economic, legal and administrative aspects of Spain and Latin America, requiring a very good command of the language.

 

The Instituto Cevantes offers a business class from the Fall to the Summer that prepares students for the certificates if they wished to take the test at our facilities. The tests are offered immediately after the class ends.
