Internet in the library
General aspects
- The library offers free access to the Internet for users with the objective of gathering information, studying, or conducting research. The service is designed as a reference for available resources on the Web that are related to the Spanish and Latin American language and culture.
- Library users have three computers with access to the Internet at their disposal.
Access conditions
- Connection time should not exceed 60 minutes.
- Access to programs with live chat or games is prohibited, as well as installing programs, modifying the start page, or changing the computer’s configuration.
- It is not possible to bring your own CD-ROM to use in the library computers, nor is it allowed to install new programs or save files on the hard drive. You may, however, listen to audio CDs and watch DVDs on the DVD players that are available in the library.
- Children under 12 years of age should be accompanied by a parent or tutor.
- Users must respect copyrights laws at all times.
- The library is not responsible for any of the information that is accessed by users from the computers that are in the library.
- The library staff reserves the right to terminate any Internet access sessions at their discretion.
Wireless Internet (WI-FI)
This new service is available free of charge to library users who wish to connect to the Internet using their own laptop.
Conditions of using the service:
- This service is designed for gathering information, research, and learning. Accessing chat rooms, games, or Internet pages with illicit contents is prohibited.
- This service is restricted to those who possess a library card.
- The operation system that is necessary to connect to the Internet from a laptop is Windows XP.
- The laptop needs to have the Service Pack 2 program installed.
- Access to the Web requires a password that will be given by the library staff.
